There are times when our actions speak louder than our stated beliefs. We may think that belief must come first, but often it is our practices that shape who we become. We often practice ourselves into new ways of being and believing. When we choose to show kindness, even when we don't fully understand or agree with the people we are helping, we may find our hearts shifting in ways we didn't expect. We learn by doing. Generosity, care, and solidarity are not just ideas—they are habits that form us. When we take steps to meet others' needs, we might discover that our assumptions begin to soften, and our capacity for compassion grows. May we commit ourselves to practices of hospitality, trusting that they will guide us toward deeper understanding and love.
May we trust that our daily acts of compassion
will shape us into people of greater love and understanding.
