We must confront the temptation to seek control and power, believing it will enable us to "win." History has shown that when we dominate, corruption follows. The call is clear: we are to offer meaning, purpose, and direction—not through force, but through authentic influence. Being "salt" means enhancing life without overpowering it. Being "light" means shining without demanding attention. These are humble positions, and humility is essential. Power often corrupts, turning focus inward for personal gain. Instead, our task is to be an alternative—to live with integrity, grounded in mercy and justice. We must ask ourselves daily: Are we offering something truly transformative? If not, we’ve missed the point. Our effectiveness lies in how we live, not in how much power we wield.
May we go forth as humble salt and light,
offering purpose, meaning, and justice to the world
through lives of integrity and mercy.
