There are moments in life when we must choose where our loyalty lies. Relationships can become complicated, especially in times of loss and uncertainty. When we face hardship, we may be tempted to retreat to what is familiar. Yet sometimes, we are called to stand by those who have no one else. This kind of commitment requires courage, trust, and a willingness to embrace the unknown. We are challenged to expand our sense of family beyond blood ties and to act with compassion even when it feels inconvenient or risky. The bonds we form through shared struggle and mutual support can shape our lives in lasting ways. Choosing to walk alongside one another is not always easy, but it is always meaningful.
May we have the courage to stand by one another
with unwavering compassion,
choosing love even when the path is uncertain.
(inspired by Julia Lambert Fogg, Finding Jesus at the Border)
