We overlook the Holy Spirit, going through motions without conviction or service. The Gospels distinguish water baptism from the vital "baptism with the Holy Spirit and fire." Our childhood water baptisms lacked deep understanding. Until we truly know, rely on, and love Jesus, we merely go along for the ride. Those baptized by the Spirit exhibit love, excitement to serve, forgiveness. The Spirit's gift is already given, but we differ in acknowledging and living it - with movement, energy, love, service. God gives the Spirit not to the worthy, but to those who want it. Let us earnestly desire and rely on this gift.
May we earnestly desire and fully rely on the transformative gift of the Holy Spirit, living with love, energy, and service.
