Embrace the Edge
To truly inspire change, we must embrace the edge - that liminal space between insider and outsider.
Prophets cannot operate from the comfortable center nor hurl rocks from the outside. Their power lies in straddling that tense divide, intimately understanding the rules before breaking them for a higher purpose.
Like Jesus quoting scripture to upend traditions, like King and Gandhi challenging oppressive systems with their own ideals, we must walk the line between belonging and rebellion. Only by holding both perspectives can we unlock transformation from within. Anger and negativity achieve nothing - real progress demands nuanced, nondual thinking.
For too long, voices of privilege have dominated discourse from their ivory towers. Where are the prophets speaking truth from the margins? The women, the poor, the oppressed? Until we center their experiences, our movements will stagnate.
We need modern-day Francises unafraid to dwell on the fringes, modeling radical solidarity. And like the Pope evoking his namesake's spirit, may we all courageously inhabit the edge - understanding the system to ultimately transcend it. In that liminal space lies the path to lasting inspiration.
