We often strive to be strong, capable, and in control, but true strength comes from embracing our weaknesses. We are not asked to achieve perfection but to find grace in our limitations. It is in our vulnerability that God’s power is most evident. By letting go of our need to appear strong or righteous, we allow God’s grace to work through us. In moments of weakness, distress, or limitation, we are given an opportunity to rely on something greater than ourselves. It is sufficient to recognize one’s nothingness and to abandon oneself as a child into God’s arms. When we surrender the need to control or to be seen as perfect, we discover a deeper source of strength—not from our efforts, but from God’s sufficient grace.
May we recognize our nothingness and rest as children in God's arms,
trusting in His grace to be our strength.
(inspired by Richard Rohr, Eager to Love)
“In moments of limitation … there is an opportunity…”
I usually remember this too late!
