The call to be salt and light is not abstract or symbolic—it is direct and demanding. It requires action. Following Jesus means embodying a set of values that challenge the dominant systems around us. Our task is not to conform, but to live with integrity, compassion, and courage. This identity is not a private belief but a public stance. If we want to be his disciples, we won’t be able to simply coast along and conform to the norms of our society. We join the prophetic tradition of those who hunger for justice, who practice nonviolence, and who remain honest even when it costs us. The invitation is clear. Either we live as agents of change—opposing corruption, exposing injustice—or we lose our purpose entirely. The choice to follow Jesus is the choice to matter, and to make that matter visible.
Live with courage and conviction,
refusing to conform,
and let your life reflect
the justice, compassion, and integrity
of the one you follow.
