Each day, resurrection must be chosen. Refusing to stay trapped in anger, resentment, or despair is essential. Hearing the call to rise, to move, to bring life into the spaces around us is necessary. Resurrection demands action, attention, and full participation. Passive observation of hope is not enough; embodying it is required. Creating, serving, forgiving, and healing become daily practices. Life asks everything, and still a yes must be given. Break out of your tombs; do not settle for death. Break out. Stand up. Give birth. Get out of easy pessimism and lazy cynicism. Put your heart and mind and hands to creating hope and light and resurrection. Hearts stay open to wonder, gratitude, curiosity, and renewal. Darkness is not allowed the final word. Resurrection is a steady commitment to life and to the Spirit’s work of making all things new. Living resurrection is not optional. The world needs resurrection now. Resurrection and life must become who we are.
Go forth and break out of all that holds you back,
creating hope, light, and resurrection wherever you are.
(inspired by Matthew Fox and Marc Andrus, Stations of the Cosmic Christ)
