Let us remember that the heart of spiritual life is not complex. We are called to return to what is simplest and most essential: love. Divine love is the foundation, the starting point, and the ultimate measure of our lives. The prophets remind us that anything that distracts from this must be set aside. Anything that gets in the way of this divine and absolute love must be shaved away. Systems of reward and punishment create confusion and harm. When we embrace love as our guide, we dismantle the fear and division that keep us from one another. Love is not selective; it embraces all. If we want to follow the path of the prophets, we must refuse to limit love or turn it into a tool of judgment. Love alone is enough.
May we have the courage to shave away all that hinders love,
trusting that divine love alone is enough.
