Religion is shifting profoundly, much like when humanity first realized the Earth wasn’t the center of the universe. This new understanding can be called the "Evidential Reformation." It’s a move away from our narrow, human-centered view of existence. Instead, we are learning to embrace a larger identity that includes the wisdom of science and the long journey of life on this planet. Our responsibility now is to ensure that future generations inherit a world as rich and full of possibilities as the one we were born into.
To disregard, to dishonor, these processes through our own determined ignorance and cultural/religious self-focus is an evil that will bring untold suffering to countless generations of our own kind and all our relations.
This new worldview highlights the importance of evolutionary and ecological processes as foundational to life. Ignoring this reality, either through willful ignorance or a self-centered focus on outdated religious or cultural views, will lead to immense suffering for humanity and the planet. This is a legacy we must reject.
How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, "This is better than we thought! The universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant. God must be even greater than we dreamed."
We are called to a form of sacred activism that integrates faith and science. The universe is far more magnificent than our ancestors imagined, and we have the opportunity to align our spiritual practices with this deeper understanding. Such a faith doesn’t compete with science—it enhances it, creating a future grounded in reverence for life and sustainability for all.
Wow !!! Meaty and RICH !!! Thank you! Ida
