Our Shared Humanity
True inspiration comes when we grasp that we are all interconnected, sharing one life, one death, and one suffering. There is no separation in the reality of our existence. There is only One Life, One Death, and One Suffering on this earth. When we realize this, our superficial differences and divisions lose their power. The only true measure of worth is our shared humanity, not our individual achievements or identities.
We must recognize and respect the unique struggles that different communities face, but never let these differences blind us to our fundamental unity. Privilege demands responsibility, and those on the margins are called to reclaim their place in this oneness. The Gospel is about learning to live and die in and with God—all our warts and wounds included and forgiven by an Infinite Love. The Gospel teaches that all are equal in the eyes of Infinite Love, and this truth levels the playing field for everyone.
Faith is not about holding onto our individual distinctions; it’s about surrendering to the reality that we are all part of something greater. The freeing, good news of the Gospel is that God is saving and redeeming the Whole first and foremost, and we are all caught up in this Cosmic Sweep of Divine Love. Our task is to trust in this cosmic unity, allowing Divine Love to work through us. Paul wrote that our only task is to trust this reality 'until God is all in all' (1 Corinthians 15:28). When we embrace this, we transcend the shallow concerns of self-centered beliefs and ideologies. Only then can we live out the true meaning of the Gospel, where every person is valued and every life is sacred.
