When we base our sense of self on ever-shifting external validation, we risk losing our integrity. In such a state, we are easily shaped by the opinions and judgments of others, often in harmful ways. This is what it means to be “possessed” by the unhealthy projections of those around us. It is a condition that demands healing, not condemnation. In general, the only cure for negative possession is a positive repossession! Healing comes through the influence of someone who sees us clearly and reflects back our inherent worth. A good therapist, a wise mentor, or a genuinely accepting friend can help us reclaim our identity. In doing so, we are freed from the affliction of negative definitions. This liberation connects us to ourselves and our community, fostering true wholeness.
May we reclaim our true selves through
the healing power of positive repossession,
finding freedom and wholeness in connection with others.
