We are called to live as friends of Jesus and of one another. The journey of becoming, grounded in Jesus’s words and actions, leads us into a life of forgiveness. This is not an easy path. Forgiving someone who has hurt us deeply challenges us in ways that stir up old wounds. Yet, Jesus’s prayer on the cross, “Father, forgive them,” reminds us of the power of forgiveness to set us free. Forgiveness, more than any other act, perhaps, makes us like God. Each time we forgive, we choose to see others as potential allies, not enemies. We create space for new beginnings and open ourselves to relationships that honor our shared humanity. Forgiveness allows us to live as God’s beloved, embracing the fullness of life together.
May we embody God's likeness through forgiveness,
living as beloved and free,
embracing all in love.
