Let us be clear in our reading of sacred texts. The purpose is not to find rules to enforce or weapons to wield. It is to allow our consciousness to shift toward love, justice, and inclusion. Scripture must be read with a humble heart, not with entitlement or superiority. Contemplative practice sharpens our ability to recognize what aligns with compassion and what does not. The movement of the Spirit is always toward healing, never punishment. Any passage that leads us to exclusion or pride must be re-examined. We read not to control others, but to be changed. God does not change in the text, but we do. Revelation is about transformation. When our hearts expand, the words breathe life into us. If they don’t, we are not yet truly listening.
May we go forth with open hearts,
allowing the sacred words to change us,
knowing that God remains constant
as we are transformed.
