We often confuse curing with healing, focusing on physical changes rather than the deeper restoration Jesus models. Healing, as seen in John 9, is not just about physical ability but about reestablishing relationships—with God, community, and ourselves. The blind man’s story reminds us that wholeness is not contingent on erasing differences. The man’s full healing came when he recognized Jesus and worshiped, not when his sight was restored. We, too, need to shift our understanding of healing. It’s not about conforming to standards of normalcy but about flourishing as God’s beloved, as we are. Our lives, in their diversity, bear the image of God. We are sanctified, redeemed, and called to reflect God’s radiance to the world.
May we embrace the fullness of God’s healing,
knowing we are beloved, whole,
and called to reflect divine radiance just as we are.
