Welcome to the divine wisdom within you. There is a kind of resistance we rarely name but often embody—the quiet, persistent turning away from the deeper invitation of our lives. This disobedience doesn’t always look like rebellion. It often appears as busyness, justifications, or doing what’s expected. But underneath, something in us knows we are fleeing.
Disobedience is not simply moral failure. It is the refusal to trust the guidance already alive within us. We resist the unfolding of our own life when we fear what it might ask of us, or when it challenges the identities and loyalties we’ve built. Like Jonah, we can become so attached to being right or protecting our story that we turn away from divine mercy—not just for others, but for ourselves.
Resistance to inner calling reveals the gap between the life we are living and the life we are meant to embody. Sometimes we resist because of fear. Other times it’s because of past wounds or simply because we don’t yet recognize the path as our own. Yet the call remains. Disobedience does not undo the invitation. It pauses the unfolding. The Spirit continues to whisper—not to shame or condemn, but to reawaken us to what is still possible.
Fleeing does not make us failures. Doubting does not make us unworthy. What matters is our willingness to listen now. The sacred voice is steady and persistent, always ready to guide us toward the new life already planted within us.
Affirmation
I am open to hear the call of my life again.
I will not flee from what I know deep within.
I trust the Spirit to guide me into the life that is mine to live.
Spiritual Practice
Sit in stillness. Let your body settle and your breath soften. Gently bring to mind a moment in your life when you felt the pull of a deeper truth—a calling, a knowing, a direction you sensed but did not take. Let it rise, without judgment. Simply witness it.
Now, notice how your body responds. Is there tension, warmth, longing, grief? Place your hand gently where you feel it most.
Ask within: What have I fled from that is still waiting for me?
Hold the question gently, like a seed. Allow silence to open up within you. Stay with this space. Let the silence speak.
Guiding Questions (Journaling Prompts)
When in my life have I known the call but chosen otherwise?
What story have I told myself to justify that choice?
What might obedience look like now—not as compliance, but as courageous trust?
How does fear of rejection, scarcity, or unworthiness shape my response to vocation?
What newness is seeded in me that longs to emerge?
Action Step
Name the calling that you sense has not gone away. Write it down. Speak it aloud. Share it with someone you trust. Take one small step toward it this week. Not a dramatic leap, but a sincere movement. Let that step be your offering of trust.
Closing Invitation
This is not about getting it right. It’s about saying yes, again. It’s about listening. It’s about returning. Allow yourself to return today—not to the past, but to the truth that has never stopped calling your name.
