When we show up, we bring our hearts and minds into the real suffering and problems of the world. This means engagement, social presence, and a sincere concern for justice and peace beyond ourselves. It takes courage to enter the fray of life, even at the risk of making big mistakes or appearing foolish. Showing up is the result of cleaning up, growing up, and waking up. Many stop short of this, but full spiritual transformation is open to all. We saw the power of showing up when we organized a prayer vigil for justice and witnessed hearts change through prayer and dialogue.
May we always show up with courage and compassion,
fully engaged in the world's suffering,
and committed to justice and peace.

It took me a long time to trust that I could step up and show up without feeling stupid. Wish now I had started sooner.
