Solidarity holds us together as a universal value, supporting our common life. We can draw on the best of our traditions, not to remove our humanity, but to help us live with greater compassion, because all of us are inherently connected. If we embrace solidarity, we commit to engaging respectfully with those we may disagree with, seeing them as neighbors and partners in the pursuit of shared good. This path requires a bold yet gracious approach to disagreements, avoiding divisions that harm collective understanding. By standing in solidarity, we accept all humanity, across every belief and identity, building bridges that emphasize what we share rather than what divides. This path of shared humanity feels like the true way of life.
May we walk the path of solidarity with courage and compassion,
honoring our shared humanity as
we build bridges of understanding and peace.
(inspired by Brian D. McLaren, Do I Stay Christian?)
