In times of great division and anger, it takes immense courage to stand apart from the crowd, to resist the forces that seek to divide, harm, or silence. We like to think we would resist, but the pressure to conform is strong. Fear silences many, yet some always step out of the mob’s grip. They see injustice for what it is and refuse to participate. When those on the margins are threatened, it is not enough to praise justice in theory. Action is required. In every time and place, there are those who form quiet circles of solidarity, opening a way for the vulnerable. Their resistance may be small, but it matters. We must form squads of love and make a path through together. We must be those people. We must create space for justice, even when it’s dangerous. Otherwise, the crowd carries us all toward destruction.
Go forth with courage,
forming squads of love,
making a path for justice,
and refusing to be swept away by the crowd.
