Mothering is something we do. It’s not limited to gender or roles—it’s about presence, care, and support. God is not simply a mother figure but the one who mothers us. We have known God’s shelter in pain, God’s guidance in confusion, and God’s comfort when we felt alone. In our suffering, the Spirit surrounds us with life-giving breath. Ruach moves through us with creative force, not bound by patriarchal definitions. We are formed and re-formed by this nurturing presence. The God who labors in love, who carries us through birth and transformation, meets us in our vulnerability. We trust this maternal Spirit—not idealized, not sentimentalized—but as real strength, real nurturance. In this God, we live, heal, and are made whole.
May the Mothering God hold us
in strength and tenderness as we go,
nurturing our lives with breath,
shelter, and unyielding love.
