The Restorative Approach
True justice transcends retribution. While our current systems often focus on punishment, the deeper essence of justice is restorative. Retributive justice seeks to balance wrongs with penalties, but this approach is limited and often rooted in a dualistic mindset. Historical texts, including the Bible, show an evolution of understanding about justice, moving from a punitive perspective to one of restoration and love.
Prophets like Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Hosea illustrated a God whose justice is about restoring wholeness through profound love, even after transgressions. This view challenges the idea that fear and punishment lead to genuine transformation. Instead, it is through love and compassion that true justice is achieved, fostering growth and healing.
By embracing this restorative approach, we align with a higher form of justice that validates and uplifts humanity. This perspective encourages us to go beyond fear and retribution, focusing instead on love and restoration. In following this path, we fulfill our highest potential and contribute to a more compassionate world.
