Three-Centered Awareness
Wisdom transcends mere intellectual understanding; it encompasses the entirety of our being—mind, heart, and body. While we often prioritize intellectual prowess in the West, there are two other vital faculties: the intelligence of the "moving center" and the intelligence of the "emotional center."
The moving center, often overlooked, is the intelligence found in movement. It's the wisdom our bodies gain as we interact with the world—driving a car, skiing down a hill, or sailing a boat. This bodily intelligence is a vast well of connection and information waiting to be tapped into.
On the other hand, the intellectual center, while valuable, operates on a program of separation. It excels at analysis and measurement but falls short when it comes to understanding our true selves and our connection to the divine. Trying to achieve mystical union through the intellect alone is like attempting to play the violin with a chainsaw—it's simply not suited for the task.
Lastly, the heart and the emotional center are distinct yet interconnected. The emotional center allows us to resonate with the world empathetically, serving as our antenna to divine radiance. The heart's purpose isn't merely personal expression but divine perception.
To truly access wisdom, we must integrate these three centers, allowing them to work harmoniously. Only then can we embark on a journey of profound understanding and connection, embracing the full spectrum of human experience.
May we be blessed with the wisdom to recognize that true understanding encompasses our entire being—mind, heart, and body.
Let us honor the intelligence of movement and emotion, alongside intellect, for they together unlock the richness of our existence and guide us toward profound connection and enlightenment.
In the dance of existence, wisdom moves, Beyond the confines of the intellect's gaze, It whispers in the sway of our steps, In the rhythm of our beating hearts. For in the quiet moments of connection, In the embrace of the moving center's knowing, We find a harmony that transcends separation, A symphony of mind, heart, and body in unison. Yet the intellect, with its sharp edges, Seeks to dissect and measure, But in its isolation, it falters, Unable to grasp the divine within. And so, we turn to the heart, To the emotional center's tender guidance, For it is here, in vulnerability, That we find the pathway to true perception. In the integration of these centers, In the recognition of their interconnectedness, We discover the fullness of wisdom's embrace, And embark on a journey of profound connection, With ourselves, with others, with the universe.
