We often confine ourselves to our own small, self-created kingdoms—national, religious, or ethnic identities. These are temporary and limited. The reign of God, however, is eternal and all-encompassing. Jesus called us to live with a broader perspective, transcending these human-made boundaries. Early Christians recognized their message as universal, not limited to any one group. Jesus lived this out by moving to "Galilee of the Gentiles," a diverse and mixed region, to proclaim the reign of God. We must stop thinking any one religion or group has a monopoly on God. God's love is boundless, embracing all people. When we pray "thy kingdom come," we ask to participate in a universal world of love without discrimination. Sadly, we are still far from this ideal.
May we embrace the universal love of God,
transcending all boundaries to live in harmony with all people.
(inspired by Richard Rohr, What Is the Kingdom of God?)
