We are called to listen deeply, beyond the surface of daily noise and the voices of authority. The prophets remind us that the powerful often dominate conversations, neglecting the needs of those who suffer. The prophetic tradition challenges us to listen especially to the cries of those who suffer and to listen to the voice of alternative possibility, to the voice of God. In our own time, we must tune in to the voices of the marginalized, those whose pain and struggles often go unheard. Listening to God’s word is more than hearing; it is engaging with the possibility of transformation. We must pay attention to our inner lives and the world around us, recognizing where healing and justice are needed. This practice of listening leads us not only to understanding but also to action, as we seek to create a world where all are valued and heard.
May we listen deeply to the cries of those who suffer and the voice of God, responding with hearts open to healing and transformation.
