Avoiding the truth of a calling often seems easier than following it. The voice comes—clear, insistent—and yet another direction appears more practical, more secure, or more acceptable to others. Some paths are chosen not out of clarity, but out of resistance. Explanations come easily: wrong time, not ready, someone else could do it better. Still, the call remains. It waits, returns, and demands attention. The truth of a vocation doesn’t vanish because it’s inconvenient. There is no worse situation than a merciful God when you want to see your enemies get what’s coming to them. Obedience isn’t passive—it’s an act of alignment with reality. Listening to the Spirit requires courage to face what’s real, even when it disrupts comfort. Intention must be firm. Direction must be clear. Follow what has been made known, without delay or excuse.
May the mercy of God unsettle our need for vengeance
and lead us toward the truth of who we are called to become.
