Who We are Meant to Be
To grow in Christ is to journey towards this sacred union, a union that seemed to define Jesus very being. It was not an instant realization, for his humanity demanded growth—physical, psychological, spiritual. To imagine him as an infant, fully aware of his divinity, belittles the essence of his human experience. No, his awareness was nurtured, cultivated, until his life flowed effortlessly from this deep wellspring within.
His teachings echo with the promise that we too can know this oneness. It is the testimony of those who have encountered their divine self, mystics who blur the lines between mortal and deity. In their deepest knowing, they are one with the Beloved, and as they journey deeper into this love, the boundaries dissolve into a single, radiant truth.
Meister Eckhart speaks of a place within our soul where only God may dwell, where we dwell in God. Here, in the depths of our being, we find an eternity of the Divine essence. Yet, even as we sink into this essence, we remain aware of our creaturehood, a point where the soul turns back on itself and knows itself as a creation.
These mystics, across traditions, do not merge themselves with God, nor lose their individuality. Instead, they become more deeply human, more grounded in the realities of life. Their spiritual journey does not lead to escapism; rather, it anchors them more firmly in the world. They embrace a contemplative dimension of life, yet their hands are not idle—they are active in serving others. This, they understand, is their home, where they encounter God in the faces of those they serve.
In this delicate dance of divinity and humanity, they teach us that to grow in Christ is to become more authentically ourselves. As we journey towards that center, where our being and the divine interweave, we find not a loss of self but a deeper realization of who we are meant to be.
May we journey towards the sacred union with Christ, nurturing our awareness and deepening our humanity, just as Jesus did.
In this pursuit, may we blur the boundaries between mortal and divine, finding our true selves in the radiant truth of oneness.
In the quiet spaces of our souls, we seek the sacred union, as Jesus did, growing in grace. Not born knowing divinity, but nurtured, cultivated, like a garden tended with care. His teachings whisper of oneness, a promise echoed by mystics, blurring mortal and divine. In the depths where God dwells, we find eternity's essence, and yet, remain aware of our humanity. These mystics, grounded in life, serve with hands and hearts, finding their home in the faces of others. In this dance of divinity and self, we grow, not into something else, but more truly who we are meant to be.
